Blue Caviar on the Easel
$7,550.00
Clay on wood: 36×36 inch.
Year: 2024.
This piece is crafted from hundreds of hand-rolled clay balls, each formed individually in varying sizes. Together, they create a rich, tactile surface where texture becomes both the medium and the message. Every ball carries subtle variations in shape and tone, giving the artwork depth, rhythm, and a distinct character that cannot be replicated. The result is a sculptural painting that invites touch, attention, and contemplation.
The creation of this artwork is deeply connected to endurance, repetition, and meditative focus. Inspired by Marina Abramović’s “Counting the Rice” experiment, an exploration of patience, discipline, and the psychological impact of repetitive tasks, I found myself experiencing a similar transformation in my process.
Rolling each clay ball by hand began as a simple action, but soon evolved into an intense exercise in concentration and persistence. The repetition became both frustrating and strangely soothing, pushing me into a state of quiet endurance. This work is not only about its final form, but about the physical and mental journey behind it: a slow, deliberate accumulation of effort, presence, and time.
