“Marina” is a piece that represents my deep fascination with the mystique and beauty of the sea. The process of creating her began as a live painting during Art Basel 2023, evolving over a year into a final work that captures her full character. The name Marina, meaning “of the sea,” feels natural, symbolizing both her origin and her spirit.
Her flowing red hair and tail mimic the fluid, organic forms of ocean currents, moving as if carried by the waves. I chose a minimalist emerald backdrop to create a tranquil, almost dreamlike space, allowing her to emerge vividly and evoke the enchantment of the ocean depths. The painting combines a blend of delicate details and simple elegance, evoking both realism and fantasy – a vision of the sea’s mystery encapsulated in her gaze.
